- Best Embroidery Software For Mac
- Truembroidery Software For Mac Price
A complete software system designed specifically for Mac computers, TruEmbroidery Software offers everything you need to bring embroidery to life using the native Mac interface. Dont worry, its simply to use just like regular MAC software. I had 4D, went to TruEmbroidery for Mac and may be shopping for a different software as new Mac OSs are released rather than upgrade my TruE. I'd thought Floriani (they still offer upgrades for life, which is a huge draw) so surprised with msjames findings.

When I bought my new machine (see purple haze thread) I also decided to buy Embrilliance Digitizing software since I use a Mac. The 5D Suite was $2K and the Mac version was about the same. At $149, Embrilliance was an absolute steal so I thought it would be good to start a thread for it.
Firstly, let me say that I find it easy to use, the manual made the tasks simple to understand despite the fact that it seems to be written from the software perspective and not that of the end userI have created my own designs using 1 of the 12 included fonts and a series of designs (called objects) from Embroidery Library. From there it is easy to save them to a USB stick and then stitch out (both my little Brother 770PE and my Pfaff can do this). The only shortfall is I cannot tell it to create the design file as cutwork or couching instead of stitching but neither of these is my main focus.
Best Embroidery Software For Mac
I have saved all my designs to my desktop in a folder and can view them any time using Embrilliance. It gets a bit stiff here because (this may be user error) I can only see them one at a time, not view all embroidery files as pictures. Also, I have not figured out, despite much bonding time with the manual, how to create a library. Again this is certainly user error but it does show how the software is a little stiff, which is to say a little less intuitive and smooth flowing than I would like. All in all a great deal for the price! I would love to hear what others think and maybe see some designs that you have made!

Look at the video for Embrilliance Thumbnailer to see if this will help you view your designs and move them from folder to folder, create and/or rename the folders.

Although I didn't pay anywhere near $2000 for the new TruEmbroidery software, I did pay over $1000, so this is a STEAL! If I had more time I'd buy it at that price just to do a comparison. However, I already have two digitizing packages (TruEmbroidery and Bernina V6) to learn right now so I won't.
I'll have fun following along to see what everybody does with this software and I'll try not to beat myself up for giving in to the TruEmbroidery given the price difference.

I also found it awkward to learn the file management for Embrilliance. I beta tested it and pointed out the need for Manual improvements that would assist a novice user. Nothing was changed. I do like many aspects, especially the stitchout preview but I complement it with Stitch Buddy, another Mac OS program.
I learned embroidery with Stitch Buddy so it holds a special place in my heart. The icon preview is embedded- no effort on my part so I can see all previews of all readable files even on my external back up drive without any effort. Launch Finder and all the embroidery images are displayed. Or launch Stitch Buddy and it goes straight to where your embroidery files are and displays them as images.
I nearly always start with SB to merge and edit nearly 90%. But I move to Embrilliance for monograms and lettering and to edit or preview complex designs or appliqués.

I think Embrilliance is worthwhile for what it does, but it is not digitizing or cataloging software. It is simply for editing. If you have Thumbnailer, you should be able to see all of your embroidery files as pictures.

You are correct about it not being a digitizing software, but I find Embrilliance to be a wonderful and easy editing software. I also have Thumbnailer, so my designs show up in Cover flow and I made my own cataloging system. I just made folders where I put my designs and can click on those folders, which open easily for viewing the designs.
I purchased Palette to use for digitizing and bought an inexpensive PC laptop to use for embroidery-only. I got 'Studio Plus' for free through my dealer when I purchased my machine and also have it on the PC. I haven't yet learned Palette and find Embrilliance so much more intuitive to use than Studio, that I've been slow learning how to use my PC and that software. I'm just so comfortable with my Mac and Embrilliance and want to get projects done quickly, so I've been lazy about learning the PC software. Jeanie

After re-reading your post, I am not sure I know what you are talking about.
Essentials has not released a digitizing program that I can find.
Combining embroidery designs is still referred to as a design and not an object.
These videos by Lindee Goodall may help with the understanding of editing vs digitizing.

My apologies ladies for the use of the word 'DIGITIZING' :)) You are right. It is embroidery editing. I did get the Thumbnailer and can see my designs in the folder now. Since it is new, and I am new to using it, I thought that the Thumbnailer ability would be included with it. Hmmm, a good opportunity for bundling up the software I'd say.

Jeanie,
Thanks for the feedback. I spent about 1 hour today sorting my designs and putting them in individual folders. It's a great idea!

Hi PattiAnnJ
When I pull a 'design' from my library such as a teddy bear, Embrilliance calls it an 'object' and it appears as an object in the window at the left. I can then add whatever else I want to create a stitch file which I call the 'design' which is to say the actual embroidery file that will be stitched out.
I apologize if I am not using the correct terms. I am fairly new to the whole embroidery scene :tounge:. I truthfully haven't used much embroidery on my garment designs, since in my day it was a hassle for the production process. I find it fun now and am really thrilled that we have this wonderful forum to learn and share our experiences.
